In my onion the best way to get rid of NIMBYS is to not bother with them in the first place. There’s plenty of farmland near urban centers that are a blank canvas for transit rich building that no NIMBYS can block. If I was a government trying to solve the housing crisis I would start there, in areas like the GTA green belt (a lot of which is just farmland), or Langley and Aldergrove BC.

幾秒內	Julian Del Balso juliothethird	Buy up the land as a government, plan the city out so that you can upgrade transit and housing easily, eg dedicated lanes and streets for public transit (eg subway underground, green space or walkable space on top), so when you dig it up in the future you don’t have to worry about traffic and inconvenience. Build a spacious and dense city from scratch that avoids a lot of problems that bigger cities that grew organically over time have.
