Kobooooooo!!!

I’ve been on kindle for years and the only benefit is being able to use Kindle Unlimited. I want to switch to Kobo or Pocketbook to get off the Zon. I will say I’m kind of waiting for @bookshop_org to start selling ebooks, to make sure I’m on a compatible device. But i assume they will be compatible on almost any device.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite and a Kobo Clara Colour. Kobo pros: Colour, better battery life, more compact, easy access to Libby, Kobo Plus includes audiobooks, reward points and VIP discounts. Kobo cons: Some books are exclusive to Kindle, search can be clunky. Kindle pros: Can access exclusive books. Kindle cons: KU costs more than K+, cust service worse than Kobo, black and white screen, Amazon’s focus isn’t on books. Overall, I prefer Kobo.

I have both and prefer the Kobo. I have the base version of each so only off of that. Kobo let's you pick where on screen is forward + back and I like that flexibility. It's easier for library books (I'm in Canada but also have a US card) - they automatically go vs. Kindle where you have to do it all on Amazon (not even Libby) so Kindle is like an extra couple steps (to get it on and to return). Plus personally the texture of the Kobo feels nicer.

Don’t bother with an e reader. Get an Android tablet. If glare is an issue get a pebbled screen protector. Dedicated devices lock you into their platform.
