when I worked as a worship pastor, an old woman that went to the church died and for some reason, left 40k dollars to the church. despite protests from myself and another staff member, the elders and lead pastor decided to use all the money on a massive digital sign for the church. could have fixed the myriad of issues with the building. could have funded a ton of community programs. nah, let’s buy an expensive sign so we can put shitty graphics on it. don’t give churches money
