Curious to hear people’s thoughts on this: who is having a greater impact on environmental issues federally - The Greens or independents?

I would say this, but Teals by a country mile. They’re in politics to achieve change. Greens are there to grandstand.

I think they're both good. The Greens often get a bad rap that they don't deserve. Also, the ACT Minister for the Environment is in the Greens and works on Federal issues via regular meetings of Federal, State and Territory enviro ministers. The joint Labor- Greens govt in the ACT has delivered lots of effective outcomes spear-headed by the Greens.

Greens. I see the Teals are opposing the tax on super balances above $3mil. I worry that this is being influenced by their mega-rich donors. The mega rich have much larger carbon footprints than ordinary people, they need to be reigned in. “Environmentalism without class struggle is just gardening.”

I’m going with the teals. They appear to actually know what they’re doing without screwing up the entire economy with ideological bullshit. Just my opinion.

Both have had their wins and losses but they are better when they work together. Powerful forces are aligned against them, including a vast propaganda machine. Labor needs to grow a backbone.

Neither. With a small majority Labor can’t or don’t. That’s supposing they were bent towards that legislation in the first. Which it appears they are hesitant to do, for reasons I can’t fathom except for the campaign $$ fossil fuel corporations are willing to part with for policy makers to bend towards.

Good question and while both independents and greens act like a weir in a river and at times a dam but driving a greater impact… I’m not sure. What I see is a weaken of the government’s position while emboldening the coalition. Don’t get me wrong I think the age of a two party dominant government needs to end but there is too much politicking and wedging and not enough constructive progress.
