Unfortunately time is the only remedy for it as you have to just let it run its course. However, pursuing special interests and staying out of social situations where you'd have to mask helps me a lot when I have burnout

Give yourself space- if you can, cut down on the time spent in allotypical spaces. Wear clothes you feel comfortable in. Vege on the couch, use loops or noise cancellers and sunnies/turn off the lights to reduce your sensory load. Put your phone to Do Not Disturb, turn off every alarm, eat easy Comfort Foods, drink lots of water and Safe Drinks. Do dopamine-loaded activities if you feel up to it- easy, small tasks like origami or macrame bracelets are great! Mostly, give yourself grace.

While burnout is difficult to reconcile with, it’s often a sign of our healing, that our lives now aren’t compatible with the standards and boundaries we failed to establish before. To be autistic without proper support is traumatic; we have to treat it as such. We need space & rest, to understand our needs & restructure our lives around them. We have to develop relationships with what our minds/bodies are telling us, instead of dissociating from them or capitulating to others expectations of us

So many of us are burnt out that at some point, we’re going to need to unionize for better working and living conditions

Burnout? Can you explain what they are going through so I can help. I got diagnosed with severe non verbal autism at the age of 2. By the time I was 4 I was undiagnosed. I still have it as a part of me and I am very proud of it.

Rest deliberately and if you have any non-strenuous special interests, lean into them 🤍
