Coughing and runny nose? Welp count out all the allergy sufferers because they’ll be gone so much they’ll be turned in for truancy

A lot of parents are going to lose their jobs, Face homelessness because of let go from their jobs, No support system Single mothers will lose their jobs as well. Their should just be a classroom for sick kids only to rest like a quiet room because this will get out of hand!

My son is asthmatic - by this policy, he would not be allowed to attend this school. He coughs when perfectly healthy during gym class or recess due to the exertion on his lungs. When we fly he has flares because of the dry, recycled air. Policies like these are extremely discriminatory towards kids with chronic conditions that are not at all contagious.

And who is gonna cover for us at work when we have to stay home cuz the kids have a runny nose ? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a chronic cough. I'd never even there. It's too much.

Fuck that, I can’t find childcare or take the day off every time they have the sniffles

My kid would miss half the year. Allergies and other issues….

I wish we could do this to an extent.. runny nose, cough and fatigue, there’s be no kids in school, I work in an elementary school and our state just passed very strict attendance laws… we now have to keep track of the minutes the kids are at school and report it all back to the state

In the winter my kids have a runny nose up to 50% of the time. We are pretty liberal about keeping them home when they feel icky because we are privileged to have lots of grandparent support and my husband works remotely, but even with extremely generous sick leave policies missing work half the time would not be feasible (and that's just one kid...if one of us were taking sick leave every time one of the three of them had a runny nose we literally couldn't have jobs, no matter how flexible).

This is very encouraging! Let’s hope more schools and daycares follow suit!
