If an oil painter has an image generated on midjourney (or one of the others) then copies it precisely in oils, can they copyright it? I would hope not, since it's exactly based on a gen ai image and the generated image can't be copyrighted. But I don't know what the copyright office would rule. I wonder if anyone has tried.
