Yesterday, someone new came to my BodyPump class. I’ve been teaching this class since 2020. She came up to the front, looked at me, with my staff badge on, while I was working to hook up the music and adjust the space up front, then turned around and asked the skinny white girl if she was the instructor. She came and looked visibly embarrassed because it was obvious that I was the instructor. Normally, I don’t let things like this bother me…

I want to be less sensitive but I’m not. I’m very sensitive and resent it when people don’t see me. It makes me sad.

She walked out. I was not the ethnicity she felt could teach the class, I guess. It sucks and I hear you. I’m sorry you were belittled because of what you look like.

As a larger bodied trainer and group ex instructor, people always tell me they are surprised by how hard my classes are. Like, I get that you assume I don’t work hard or don’t come up with good workouts, but I do. 🙃 Also, not pump certified, but getting combat certified here in about a month!

When I did weddings it never failed someone would think the male second photographer or my male assistant was the lead or owner of the company. I especially loved Body Combat classes, I'd been away for 2 weeks & a group of skinny chippies started during that time. As soon as I walked in they started laughing with the comments, not being quiet at all. The instructor just smirked at me & said "Can't wait to see their faces when we hit the half-way mark" That’s when the room is split in half & face each other. 1/2
