I've seen this movie in both Japanese and English dubs. I think the English dubbing is excellent and in some ways better than the Japanese. The Japanese dubbing was already excellent and the English dubbing was a benchmark that was difficult to repeat at that time. The script also improved the desperate parts of the original work, and correctly guided the Gothic poignancy in the animation performance.

もうそんなに経つのか…　今見ても凄いクオリティーだ、出来れば塩沢さんの声で見たかった。
