Today I let all of my family know I'd be getting them for Christmas what they got me last year. And that I would be matching their energy this year...as far as a tree and decorations goes. Now there is a group chat between my partner and the kids that I'm not in...but I hear the phone notifications going off like crazy. They have bought me nothing for years...my stocking is always empty, while theirs are full. Well this year Mom is no longer pouring from an empty cup. christmas2024

I'd imagine that your family's attitudes match the empty stocking and lack of assistance. It's not that you want THINGS, it's that you want consideration. That this is hard to see is upsetting. You can be considerate of people while not giving gifts. I doubt that's what has been happening.
