Yes I have applied to other jobs outside of tech and I even got rejected from Starbucks, Staples and Best Buy. Also yes I have re written my resume around 10 times, customized it for each job posting and wrote custom cover letters. It seems to make minimal to no difference. I have been trying the conventional way of networking and reaching out to people but my network is nearly tapped out. If you see this and you can help out in anyway, I would appreciate it.

I can def relate. I was laid off last month from my first swe position after a total of six years of working for the company (2 years as software engineer and 4 years in cs). I’m already a bit over the back to back rejection emails and it’s only been two months for me 🫠 so I can only imagine what it’s been like for you. do you study the questions on Leetcode？ It’s hard with your experience in this market, I would say keep doing the questions at least 2-3 hours a day. You can do it! You are competing with others who have 20+ years of experience and they are willing to take the lower positions.

Did you try USAjobs? It might not be in the field you want but right now until you can find something in your field

Stop selling yourself as a Junior, don't say it, don't even mention it. Nobody but other programmers will notice it and it's still difficult to do so. By the other hand we are living through a recession and not blaming yourself for it will help you at least have a positive mindset about it. Sadly there's things that out of our direct control.

Maybe u should try software sales...it's in demand now...or maybe you can try to apply for sales development specialist..it's in demand too in a lot of tech companies..u don't need to do sales for this job..I just need to do requirement gathering from potential clients and send it to salesperson..yr knowledge in tech would be an added advantages..I currently work for the same field for Microsoft and IBM partner company..

Are you looking anywhere in specific? What languages do you have experience in? I can look at my network and see if anyone is posting anything. The job market is terrible right now for all of tech sadly. In my experience in interviewing candidates, it’s usually those who have a lot of experience and have gone above and beyond with side projects and other experience to get in. I talked to a couple recruiter friends and the market seems to be improving some.
