So, I was at the grocery store the other day, you know, just trying to do the most basic adult thing—get food so I don’t starve—when I witnessed one of the most bizarre interactions ever. I’m standing there, minding my business in the produce section, when this older guy, probably in his 60s, comes up to the avocados. You know that moment when someone picks up an avocado, gives it a squeeze, and they’re like an avocado connoisseur?

9 小時內	Monica Friedman hubris_and_smoke	I didn't know where you live, but in southern Arizona we take avocado selection both seriously and communally. Grocery stores often sort them into "ready now," "ready tomorrow," and "ready later," piles, and if they don't, it's considered good manners to state, "They're all hard today," or, "These avocados are really ripe!" to others approaching the avocado section so they can manage their expectations. If you need guac NOW you might have to go to another store, you know?
