I get if you’re a family of 8 and need a 4,000 sq ft house but we’re a family of 3 and when I say we’re only looking for 1,500 sq ft I’m getting people telling me that’s not big enough?! What is the obsession with large homes?! I’ve always loved smaller homes and I know my only child will be an only child forever. Why buy a McMansion for no fucking reason?!

The only wants are a dedicated home office (now WAH post-covid) and a little more closet/storage space. 2000-2500 would probably be better. Honestly, I'd pass on all that for a three car garage, but that's just me.

They show people looking for houses saying they need something large because the kids can’t share a bathroom with each other, someone needs an office , the kids need their own entertaining spaces, etc. It seems like that’s being pushed as the norm.

Well, big house: big payment, higher taxes, higher upkeep, pressure to keep up with neighbors, more expensive furniture. It’s a long list. Most Americans are over housed.
