Someone recently responded to one of my comments claiming that “every study done” says that liberals have more mental health issues that conservatives. So, I did some light digging. It appears that there have been many studies done and they definitely show a disparity. Liberals are more likely to have a mental illness. Now, researches tend to connect this to the fact that liberals spend more time worrying about stressful subjects, like racial injustice, income equality, gun violence, etc… 1/ ⬇️

6 小時內	Travis Thoroman dashlektrik	Correlation is not causation, but I think if there is a causative relationship between the two, they've got it backwards: people with more mental health issues are going to gravitate towards a philosophy of change, improvement, and individuality, while people who are happy with their lives, and have no empathy for others, might subscribe to a philosophy that protects their privileges and reinforces the status quo.

It still persists in some 3rd world nations as the dominant narrative (people who seek help are certifiably crazy and weak). The numbers absolutely have to be skewed. I'm sure their deficits are widely under reported & that has to be considered in this context. Without seeing data I can make an educated guess that liberal minded folks w/MH issues probably score a lot higher on empathy which matters
