This is a 1999 Subaru Outback as my son’s first car. We picked it up for $2200 bucks. No loans and no debt for a vehicle. If he wants a better car, he can sell this and add more cash to it and get something better.

I bought my kids, newer, reliable used cars. I wanted them to be safe and not have to worry about mechanical issues. Good thing too. Two months after getting his license, my youngest got hit by a fully loaded logging truck on the highway. His car rolled several times. He walked away with a few bruises. That's why I never would put my kid into a 1999 death trap.

That's clean for a 99! Had a 97 that was a rust bucket I bought for $400, my father and I fixed third cure in the transmission made it Road worthy and I drove it for a couple years. It was a tank it would never stop running and just go through anything. My dad and I built a lot of cool cars over the years but that beater Subaru was one that was dear to our hearts
