The people up there have extreme halitosis thanks to missing the full human genome. It’s a known thing & most of them live as hermits, not being able to stand being around each other. As a result their birth rates are the lowest in the world. Soon they’ll be as rare as white rhinos, just without the horns.

lots and lots of bethels. its also a tad maga poisoned. but lake shasta is huge and sweet. plus tons of other lakes, rivers, waterfalls hiking trails. one of californias best areas to visit.

The better question is why isn't the central coast developed like the rest of the coast?

Camped there in 2008 for a whitewater trip & on the 1st night two locals named “Forest” & “Slate” emerged from the woods to join our whitewater group around the campfire. Started saying creepy things. Everyone goes quiet. Then they lunge at an unsuspecting camper each grabbing and arm and drag him thru the campfire on his belly. The next morning the local sherriff came round our campsite to ensure us Forest & Slate were nice boys from nice families and they’d just lost their way recently. WTF

That's the seat of Mt shasta. You ever heard the stories about shasta? Been out there, landed in Weed, CA on my way to Washington. Don't recommend stopping for anything but gas. Not a joke.

Crazy thing is how gorgeous Northern California is too. There are places you can look one way and see gorgeous trees everywhere on hills and look the other way and see the magnificent ocean. I had a moment once where I just had tears in my eyes because of how beautiful my surroundings were and I couldn’t understand why.
