I'm curious to hear from others re. if this election season has fractured any of your personal relationships. I used to believe that having a shared faith in Jesus would be enough to hold any friendship together. I'm not so sure I still believe this. In some cases, I feel like even our understanding of what it means to follow Jesus is so fundamentally different that our common ground has been reduced to a tiny concrete square. Is this bitterness or wisdom? Makes me very sad.

I joined a Bible study a little while ago and I thought “these ladies would never show up on my algorithm. I need to learn to be in a space like this.” I can tell there are some in the group with wildly different hermeneutics -and news sources- than me. We might not become besties, but I want to find out if both I and they can learn to bear the tension of our differences.
