I’m pretty sure that if you ask them, they will process your photo as you like

In my opinion, the lab results are better. The subject is isolated, and light has its natural flow. The photo has layers. You took all of that away to recover shadows, which are not important in this instance. At the same time, you gave a digital look to a film photo, which undermines the purpose of shooting on film. I do think the photos are great. Even without seeing the lab version, I would still be admiring the shots! 🙂

Both versions are okay, depending on what you want. The lab-scan with the slightly to bright highlights and the slightly to dark shadows definitely has a vibe of its own. Your version is technically more perfect in terms of detail. But like my teacher once said, it‘s easier to start with a rather flat negative with all the information and detail and then add contrast and the look you want, than trying to recover detail which is simply not there.

I’m sure you could get scans closer yours if you paid extra for multi pass hdr scans.

The contrast of the lab scans looks good on each one except the lamp shade thingy. All that detail lost in the shadows! Holy moly

People dont understand that the lab scans might look better right now. But having that information in the shadows and highlights give you much more freedom to edit. Recovering any info from those lab shadows will be brutal

"If you want it done right, do it yourself". You obviously can scan yourself, so do so. My opinion is that the best photo would be a blend of the two. The lab scan has less dynamic range, but seems more natural for a single light source and has more pleasing colors.

I like both man. Ik people are hating but there’s a place for both. Your pics are sick! I prefer your scan in the first and third, but prefer the labs scans on the second. That’s how art is! Completely situational!
