Lady on the internet: “OMG MAMAS did you know that the ‘sticker’ they put on your baby’s scalp to monitor their heart is a SCREW! That’s so invasive and hurts them!” Me: “hi. I’m a doula. Yes you’re correct! But fyi…. My own tailbone left a scab and a mark on my son’s scalp…. I’d say a heart monitor to make sure your baby is ALIVE is 10 times better than that.”

It kept the most accurate track of how he was doing and thank goodness he was responsive to repositioning. It showed his decel down to the 70s while pushing and I was able to prepare myself for the possibility of an episiotomy. a scar means nothing in comparison to a dead baby

It allowed me to keep pushing while knowing my baby was safe, and the doctors knew that I wasn't going to have a c-section unless it was necessary. If I would've kept the external, there's no doubt I would've had another csection. He was just wiggling every where and it was picking up false decels. Didn't have a single one after the internal was placed. We need more doulas like you.

16 小時內	lauren hall emokelso	Yeah my son will NEVER recall that monitor but it kept him safe during the birth. I understand questioning what the norm is but sweet Jesus y'all, critical thinking skills are vital.
17 小時內	Evan rnwithaking	The fact that your tail bone was involved with the birth is a problem with itself. If people understood normal physiology and the birthing process.. Women would stop giving birth on their backs. It's not anatomically correct and was a practice stsrted by OBGYNs for their own convenience during the process. If prior complications are known before birth.. That's a whole nother topic, but the idea that birth is a disease process that needs treatments is a huge problem.
