In high school class when announcement came over the PA system. Teachers and students were crying in the hallways in disbelief and grief.

I was an 8 year old from a very small town in Nova Scotia, my eldest sister had married an American in New York 4 months earlier, my first trip to the U S, and I was fascinated by the glamorous First Family. I remember coming home from school wanting to watch Mr Dressup and The Friendly Giant but all that was on tv was the news. I can still feel the pain in my stomach when I heard the news.

In afternoon 8 grade class

6th grade, in gym, teachers asked us to sit against wall, as they told us, l remember wanting to go home so badly to my Mother to see if she and our home was ok, very disturbing frightening moment

Seventh grade in a Massachusetts Catholic School. Our principal sent a high school girl to tell each classroom nun. Most of us had Irish grandparents. We thought Jack Kennedy was a god. It was shattering.

I had to look you up to make sure I didn’t know you. I was also in biology class getting ready to dissect a frog. 😊An announcement came over the loud speaker and we were told to go to take our books and go to our gymnasium. The principal then told everyone. Of course, no social media or devices then. I remember what a long walk it was home from school that day.

I had just walked in from elementary school. My mom and our next neighbor were standing in our living room crying, sobbing actually.

I was in the lunch line at school. A friend had brought a transistor radio to school and even the teachers were huddled around. By the time lunch was over, the flag was being lowered to half staff. It was like getting punched in the chest. Phoenix Arizona.
