Couple years ago I gave an older woman a ride home from our local Meijer (she was waiting for the bus with a cart full of Christmas presents and I heard her mention that the bus wouldn’t be there for more than an hour and a half, so I offered). The point, though, is that I knew it could be odd or scary, so we texted her daughter to let her know I was giving her mom a ride with my name, a picture of me and one of my car with the license plate clearly visible. Maybe if guys did this? Thoughts?

I did a similar thing about a year ago. Walking on flat ground, twisted my ankle, my things flew all over the place. A random man tried to help me up and I was hesitant to let him until I noticed he'd been walking with a woman who was picking my headphones and glasses up. They were really nice but it's fucked that every strange man have to be OKd by another woman before doing something nice (exactly bc "not all men but always a man")

I had a similar experience last year. Walking and tripped over an uneven bit of pavement, grazed my knees and hurt my arm really badly. Two girls noticed me and helped me up, made sure I was okay. They were the kindest people ever. Just a shame that not everybody is like that.

If you simply "stepped wrong" and broke your ankle you need a DEXA scan as chances are you have osteoporosis ie thinning bones. It's not normal to break an ankle just from stepping wrongly or turning it over. From someone who has done the same thing and been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Hope you heal soon.

Probably 35 years ago, I was in Boston & gave an older middle aged woman whose car had broken down at night a ride in a truck I was driving. I felt badly as the minutes went by. I could see she realized what she had done, and suddenly started to panic. 1/2

I just don’t understand this rhetoric at all. I have never felt uncomfortable or unsafe around men and I personally would have seen a Good Samaritan and accepted the lift.
