Yesterday I went over to my sisters house to get in touch with her. Why? I had been calling and hear ‘this person is not accepting any calls at this time.’ Her cell service has been suspended. My sister is 72, disabled and living on SSA. She blew through her inheritance from our Dad within a year. She couldn’t afford her property insurance and I paid it last year for her. 🧵

3 小時內	Dina Scheel birdingmom	To all those being negative, it is so easy for a house to get that way fast, for the elderly to go from ok to not ok in a blink, and for people to not ask for help and to say they are ok when they aren’t. People can fool you for a long time, and family is the best at it. I hope you never are in this position, and I hope people are kind when you are. My friends and I have been there for each other as our parents age and it’s rough. Siblings are even harder. 🧵

7 小時內	Margaret peggy_i_love_you_	I work on an inpatient psychiatric unit. This is very very common. Don’t listen to the negativity. People have no idea what they are talking about. Furthermore, you have zero rights until things get this bad and can show proof of need for guardianship. And even then it’s a tough road if the person doesn’t want help. I wish you good luck, she’s so lucky to have you.

We have helped rehome many pets for elderly clients that could no longer care for them even if they weren’t regular clients. Or they may provide some basic wellness care so they can be adopted easier. Good luck.
