Maybe a controversial opinion, but I don't think anyone should have annual leave over Christmas week. Especially if your job requires staff 24/7.

I used to do the Christmas rotas in a supermarket. Fun job 🙃 I never changed people’s fixed working hours at Christmas. My theory was that it was fairer that way as you’d get in rotation a good year, followed by a bad one then a not so bad one. But it was fair. Other reason I did it that way was because people could make plans before seeing the Christmas rota! Plugged the gaps with overtime and seasonal workers. However last year, I was put in on days I never worked! 👋 to the job after 20 year

I agree. I’ve worked my way up from support worker to manager & I’ve worked every Xmas. I’m okay with that, but I don’t think it’s fair that certain people get it off due to childcare etc. It should be a first come, first served basis as to who requests it off first. It’s not 18 year old Charlotte’s fault that 38 year old Donna has 3 kids. That shouldn’t stop Charlotte having time off to celebrate Xmas, because of someone else’s life choices.
