Not that my 14 yo self would have *ever* had a chance with him, even if he was straight (because also um, I was 14!), so I kinda get "there's always hope" ;-)

I once got confirmation that a celebrity crush of mine does, in fact, swing toward women. And I was like “yay! …now what?”

One time when I mentioned having a crush on a celebrity, a guy was happy to tell me “I hate to disappoint you, but he’s gay.” Like, who are you disappointing? I can still have a crush on him regardless of his orientation and also, I know that I will never meet him so it’s not like he was crushing my hopes of actually having a relationship with him! People are so stupid.

This exactly!! I'm old enough to remember when rumours of an attractive bloke being gay was meant to be a turn-off for women. And I never understood why. Why should I feel less attraction for someone who exists in my life only as an image anyway?
