If women are responsible for creating holiday magic, and are directly or indirectly responsible for 70% to 80% of all consumer purchasing decisions, what would it look like if we stopped?

I’ve got little kids and I’m trying to set this expectation early. All our decor is reused or homemade, gifts are thrifted or homemade. A couple new toys are coming from extended family. I took the kids shopping at a school fundraiser to pick out gifts for family & closest friends. We painted recycled packing paper and will use that for wrapping paper. Hung fresh greenery from outside trimmings, baked goodies to share, made candles and paper snowflakes. We have so much magic in our house!

Another option is if you are to buy anything then buy from women owned businesses, businesses that pay a fair wage (living wage employers) and those that reduce their impact on the environment.

Small woman owned business here, the answer is not to destroy our economy but to wield our power with precision. Stop clicking to shop and start buying locally. Support your own community first. Get involved in decisions about your community. Use cash whenever possible. Credit Cards take 3% out of everything you buy and it’s FAR worse than that when you use a credit card for small purchases!

Yes. Same with veganism. Women have the power to stop exploitation. Let’s do it!

Oooo this is interesting but we’d definitely have to adjust the expectations of our children first lol But the thing is, it doesn’t need to be extravagant to make them happy. I put up the tree early and let them decorate it without worrying what it looked like = happy kids. Do easy crafts to decorate the house = happy kids. I buy some presents from Marketplace. We attend mostly only the free Christmas Events. Oh and I’m single now so that did drop the most unnecessary expense 😅
