If you want to give anesthetics, go to medical school

I recommend they get years of experience as an RN first before they even think of applying to advanced practice degrees. It is to their benefit, and to the benefit of safe patient care.

Spend a good 3-5 years at the bedside first, then decide if you want an advanced degree and which route you want to take. CRNA will require at least 2 years ICU. There are several NP routes to choose from (pedi vs adult, acute care vs primary care vs family practice, psychiatric/mental health, women’s health, neonatal, etc). I chose AGACNP because I absolutely adore our aging population & I love taking care of patients face to face in the acute care setting. 1/-

I recommend they work as a nurse for years gaining invaluable experience and knowledge so they can make an informed decision about specialties and have a chance at being actually useful when they get an advanced degree.

Get experience and decide based on your personal preferences and experience once you have a few years to help guide your choice.

There’s so many ways to advance ur career other than NP or CRNA! Just that heads up. But it really is your preference :) you spend a third of your life working - so you gotta enjoy it

CRNA

I would choose CRNA. salary is massively larger vs NP. I’m a PA and wish I was an RN so I could go to CRNA school.
