In 2019, I was once again diagnosed with bone cancer. There was a new treatment that was very promising for my type of cancer, but my health insurance, yep, United Healthcare, would not pay for it. They said it was experimental, even though it had been around for more than 3 years. My doctor took me downstairs at NYU Langone and I met with a patient support specialist. She helped me reach out to New York State and apply for Medicaid, which would cover the treatment.1/2 Health Insurance

2/2. I was only supposed to be on it for a year but COVID happened and I was able to stay on it through the entirety of my treatment until 2023. Because Medicaid covered 100% of my costs, the doctors were able to expand my treatment and I am now 100% cancer free. This is the relapse they said would be the end of my life. Medicaid for All is the way to go. I worked hard and paid my taxes all my life. I shouldn’t have to die because a healthcare CEO wants to make more money.

Mr, Bomastic have you ever made ottmeal brandy, I heard a couple of guys taking about how smooth it was, and if you try it and let me because I want to see it’s as good as they get it in Missouri, but the way is the only place that sells it, just a suggestion for the next batch,

UHC denied laser treatment for my fibroids bcuz it was considered experimental treatment. It’s been in existence since the early 2000s. I opted for embolization in 2021. Not as effective but covered by UHC. But now the fibroids are back to giving me problems again. Cutting the blood supply to the tumors didn’t work and I know disintegrating with lasers would have eliminated them all together. Now I have to consider hormone therapy for them. Make it make sense.🙄

And Hillary helped make that happen by expanding the ACA aka Obamacare when she was in office in NY. Go ACA!

Living in Minnesota, for years UHC wasn’t available in our state. The insurance commissioner wouldn’t allow their products in our market. Think about that?

I’m willing to pay for the drug insurance is not approving and now they are withholding approval of any of my cancer treatment until we can prove I’m not taking said drug.

Genuine question (not trying to be a jerk, really): if you were on Medicaid, how could you also afford to have insurance through United? I thought Medicaid was for folks with very little in assets and very little income. Again, genuinely curious and not trying to start a fight. Thanks.
