When I was extremely homesick my first year in the UK, my educator booked me three weeks off for Christmas so I could go home and see my family. When my grandma's cancer relapsed my leave was booked around my travel plans with no queries. When I was new here and came to work even though I was unwell (that's the expectation in the US) I was gently and kindly taught that when I'm sick I should be at home. I slowly learned. 🧵 3/4
