To trigger the CDS alert, you need somebody special in your life who doesn't want cats, hates cats, WE ARE NOT GETTING A CAT. Someone like me. We've got 3½ now. The half being a stray that might live in a little house someone might or might not have put up out the back because they might not want him to get too chilly. But yes, like others say, go to the shelter. They've always got too many of the cantankerous, moulting, shouty little ****ing moody balls of cuteness.

The CDS cannot be invoked, it only activates when you least expect it. Shelter and rescue kitties need homes, and unlike CDS cats, their personalities have been observed and evaluated by a human who can help you figure out if they're a good match for you! Besides, there are shelter cats who are there because the CDS tried to deliver them to a person who genuinely could not accept that bounty. Benefit from someone else's failed CDS encounter, go to a rescue!

What worked for me was donating money to my local spcaoftompkinscounty because, and I quote, I want to do something for the kitties without having to adopt one. A few days later, a starving stray showed up in my yard... She's mine now!
