The cashier called a manager over and she said because it wasn’t purchased there that she couldn’t do anything about it. She said I needed to go back to the store in which it was purchased. It was a gift so I don’t know where it was purchased and I feel awkward about approaching my friend about it.

I did customer service, and managed departments, at Nordstrom for many years and there is definitely ways to get the codes and/or make a new card. You need to speak to the store manager, they will be the one to make this right for you. It’s $50, I can’t believe they didn’t handle this for you.

They could have made it right on the spot. He didn’t steal he made mistake. You had proof they could have done it. Customer service reps can’t do much. Go higher. Hey good case for 7 on your side. Not kidding threaten that call and I’ m sure they wouldn’t want the embarrassment by going public.

Do not let it go. That's a major corporation who now has your friends $50 for free. That's theft. They purposely make people jump through hoops in hopes that they'll give up in instances like this...

Exchanging a video game @target, cashier strangely opened the plastic seal to check inside then tried to process return. They don’t carry the game, was unable to process return, tried sending me away apologetically. Appalled I ask for a manager to explain that NO ONE would take that back opened. Mngr tried explaining policy then sighed, decided to give me store credit for the value of the game, let me keep the now opened original and didn’t berate the employee for a mistake. 10⭐️
