What would you do, let the gift card go and just not shop there or do what their customer service suggested and file a police report?

A huge department store like Nordstrom and they won’t cover the damage their employee did, file the report, be relentless and never go back again, imho, they are dropping the ball on this one

The receipt should indicate where it was purchased. Also this sounds so unlike Nordstrom I’m shocked they are not helping you.

This makes me sad. I worked there back when we were trained to make the customer happy. It’s changed. I’m sorry.

Here’s a link on how to resolve an issue with Nordstrom. Company contacts are listed. Courtesy of Christopher Elliott, consumer advocate. https://www.elliott.org/company-contacts/nordstrom/

That is ridiculous. You did nothing wrong. filing a police report on THEIR employee doesn’t get your money back. You have to go through the judicial process, the charge may be dropped once the city prosecutor sees how ridiculous this is. You have been very patient. Call customer service. Get a refund. If they won’t, ask your friend to dispute the charge on her credit card. The investigation should be interesting.

What in the world is the crime you would be reporting? That @nordstrom is stealing your $50?

I worked at Nordstrom as a manager for a veryyyyy long time. Email the store manager and the service experience manager. They should be able to resolve this right away. In no way should you have been suggested to file a police report for a literal mistake. The service experience manager should be able to transfer funds from that gift card to a new gift card and it’s taken care of. Easy peasy. What the actual eff.

The receipt/activation should have info nordstroms can use to reissue the card. *i think* Also I think it’s fine to reach out to the gift giver, tell them what happened and ask where it was purchased if that makes getting your $50 easier.
