I'm all for the the FAFO energy right now. My daughters science teacher is facing backlash right now. My daughter told me that at the beginning of her class she asks all students to gather in a circle and prays with them. When I found out I just told my daughter you do not have to participate. Well a parent told the principal and that teacher is now in trouble. I have no problem with you representing your faith. However there is a time and place, It is not in a classroom during classtime. 1/2

I'm also against Disney movies being shown in class (as a sub, I hated when teachers left a "filler" like that) - I always made the kids write a story and draw pix. Much more fun to use their imagination!

As far as I’m concerned, feel free to tell the kids that you’re Catholic, Quaker, Jewish, Church of Satan—or other details about your life (married, divorced, widowed, poly, gay…) It’s part of who you are and I don’t think it should be required that you don’t mention it. But classrooms aren’t the place for prayer. The kids can know you do it but the things which happen in class shouldn’t require someone to profess a faith or sit out.

I'm about to go rocking in there with my "Satan Loves you for Who you Are" shirt and have a conversation with her and the school board.
4 小時內	Ann Croucher mdancer1951	I don't feel that children should actually see teachers as anything other than their teacher - clothes should be tidy but unremarkable , don't talk about your private life , your family ( though sometimes it's unavoidable if your own children are in school) your gender choices your partner choices or your religion. It's nothing to do with them , they need to see you as a warm, stable person who is their teacher ,not their parent or their friend .

They demanded to cook a spaghetti lunch once a month. I donated the cookware. 😁
6 小時內	Racheal Cotton shell_cotton	Texas had approved a k-5 curriculum with a lot of Bible stuff in it. Districts that adopt it get $60 more per student - we currently get $21. Any teacher who chooses not to teach the curriculum must be reported to the Texas Education Agency. One of the many reasons I am trying to transfer my certification to a new state. Even if I were Christian, I firmly believe religion should be taught at home and not school unless it is along the lines of “ the religion of this region is . . .”
