I just have to say it… I know a lot of ABCs (American Born Chinese) feel weird about being on RedNote. Like it’s cute to be non-Chinese fumbling through tones, but for an ABC, it’s awkward. It’s like Saturday morning Chinese school all over again and you’re that 14 year-old in fifth grade Mandarin. But as someone who survived that humiliation, it’s worth it in the end. I share with you my White Rabbit candy and will happily practice with you without any judgment.

6 小時內	Ellery e.ll.e.r.y	As a non-native It’s not “cute” to be fumbling through tones. It’s mortifying. It’s embarrassing. It’s everything you don’t want. I know ABCs have a major chip on their shoulder but you guys should try to maybe see yourselves in others instead of isolating yourselves so much. It’ll pay off in the long run. That is, of course, assuming you’re actually interested in recognizing common ground rather than playing the victim.
