Looking for additional information/opinions etc on moving from California to the Pacific Northwest. Or are there any smaller, more affordable options in Northern California. Just tired of the traffic and crowds in SoCal. Thanks!

I moved to WA state during the pandemic. I moved to a small coastal community in WA and wouldn’t trade it for anything. I was able to purchase my retirement home. I still working until 2030 & I’m extremely happy with my move.

There was an article in the Sacramento Bee or maybe another big city paper yesterday about the many isolated and less economically developed counties in the northern part of CA you may want to read if you really want to get away - behind the Redwood Curtain. Also, you’ll be surprised that while the overall cost of living is less in OR, the cost of housing in Portland and Eugene is disproportionately high, and outside of those areas the state is more purple-red than blue. Just some thoughts.

We moved from the Temecula area to Lake county (Northern California about 45 min north of Napa). We bought a house on the lake 3years ago and haven’t looked back. Cons: limited job options as it’s a small community; limited shopping options. Pros: affordable housing; no traffic; vineyards; nice people

Vacaville is very nice. But weather although nice, is not as sunny and warm as SoCal
