If he makes too much for Medicaid but still can’t afford $2,000 out of pocket it’s probably just poor financial management.

Nope it’s not. I’ve checked his paystub and he gets 30% taken out for taxes and about 10% for insurance, ss and 401k 🤦🏽♀️ he works 14 hours a day same as my mom. It’s heartbreaking

Look at you, on your pretty little soap box! This person doesn't need to roll out all of their father's financial obligations. And I'm sure you've experienced financial hardships before. They're telling us, they're facing eviction, although their father works and his insurance, that sucks. Their own unique circumstances has lead them their. Be happy this isn't you, with your great financial planning and sparkly soap box. But, I'm sure you'll tell me, the pickle that you, yourself are facing.

Annnddd let me tell you, my father is 65 and is working and doesn't qualify for medicare and he makes 35 grand a year. Thank God he owns the home outright. He'd be out on the streets.

That’s not true at all I work as a nurse case manager and it’s very large group of people that fall in the too rich for Medicaid too poor for insurance hole you can’t make over 1200/month in my state alone to get Medicaid so people on disability who get 1400 a month are forced to pay for their own insurance and it’s often 500-700 monthly imagine giving half your check for insurance monthly

Are you kidding me? It means we’re living week to week on what we make and we don’t have that extra money. There are thousands of us.

No it’s not, the system is broken. Go look at the federal poverty line to see how destitute you have to be to even be considered for Medicaid. Medicare, that’s $185/m premium plus 20% out of pocket.

Yes but the fact remains that he doesn’t have it. Maybe he made a mistake in that regard. Have you ever made a mistake? It’s happened to me.

medicaid has a low income threshold. if you make minimum wage in my state you make too much for medicaid. they definitely can’t afford a $2k emergency
