No, you can forgive them — doesn’t mean you need to have a relationship with them. God wants you to set boundaries and protect your peace!

The scriptures tell us that if we go to make sacrifice and remember that our brother has an alt with us to leave our gift at the altar and go make things right with our brother and be reconciled. Reconciled means to put back together again. putting back together is more than just forgiving. It's rebuilding the relationship

Girl, I feel ya! I tried to mend my relationship with my mother, while attempting to set healthy boundaries. However after she repeatedly and unapologetically trampled all over my boundaries, I decided enough was enough. I did check in with Holy Spirit before making my personal decision and got the go ahead before acting on it. I def do not believe it is wrong to leave toxic relationships (even family). You can forgive someone without trusting/having a relationship with them.

If its a parent you have to respect them, even if they don’t deserve it. If its not a parent you can remove them from your life. The Bible says honor your parents. Family members, friends, associates etc.. feel free to release yourself from them. God isn’t displeased witg this. He wants you to protect yourself/your heart.

I think the emphasis is on forgiving but not forcing yourself to be unhappy. We forgive people and let things go. We still show respect but we don't need to hang out with people we don't like...even if they're family.
