I’m not sure I’m against it, I just don’t know what the tax rate would be for our single payer system. It’s hard to change from something with that gigantic unknown. Not a single politician has been able to articulate a plan with a tax rate to pay for universal healthcare. We know what that rate is in Australia, Germany, the UK. Currently it’s higher than what I pay for my family of five. I know I’m lucky that my employer covers 75% of the cost. If you want me to pay more, how much more?

I am against it because our government will totally screw it up and I am serious. It’s. It that I am against a single payer system but our federal govt isn’t the answer. It will just turn into this left /right thing with multiple committees and subcommittee and within 5 years we will have an awful system and nothing else to choose.

It’s not an entitlement to have insurance. Who’s gonna pay for it? We’re already taxed enough!!! DemoncRATs have had several proposals since 2003. So why have democratic presidents refused to push it thru??? Care will go down I don’t care what you claim. 6 months to see pcp will go from 3-6 months to at least a year. Soecialists are already so backlogged you can’t get in for at least a year. And chronically ill or those over 50 will suffer the most. I don’t see them paying for cancer care.

The devil is in the details. I want to see the details of the plan. How exactly is the tax to pay for it going to be determined and distributed? Are we going to impose Medicare rates for all patients? If so how are we going to insure the reduction in the profitability of healthcare doesn’t impact its quality or availability? Can those who like their current healthcare opt to keep it?

Cuz they hate paying taxes and that means they’ll take a dollar out on my W-2

In the US we’ve made a societal decision that we value quality access and choice over cost containment. UHC strips away much of that and make physicians and hospitals price takers. Dr. Peter Attia has a great podcast on this topic that explains the $4T system and how it’s interconnected with so many other parts of the broader economy

The US government is useless besides military they can’t do anything right, why on earth would you want to give them more money to run your healthcare? Are you crazy?

I’m concerned about my doctor being a government employee. I want an A doctor not a C doctor and government reeks of let’s get by mentality

My problem with single payer comes down to allowing religion in what care can be given. Look at TriCare, they have already limited paying for necessary D&Cs prior to overturning Roe vs Wade. They dont pay for IVF or other infertility even if you live in a state that requires it to be covered. We cant have state rights over care and a single payer system.
