If people think todays NYC subway is bad, the 80's and 90's were worse.

Folks are missing that there have recently been two high profile violent incidents on a subway system that is used by millions of people every day. Sure these incidents are scary, but you're about 10,000 times more likely to die in a car crash than e murdered on the subway.

Graffiti everywhere. Constant flickering lights and bouts if darkness. I do not miss it!

That train robbery skit on Biggie album wasn’t for the album, that was real. Trains got robbed all the time. It was still a cash based society. I just heard the total homicide for Brooklyn in 24 was 124. In my hood in the 90’s we would average 150+ and better. This era is cupcake to me. Soft as a baby 💩

So because it was worse in the 80s, we can't want it to be better now?

You’re absolutely right. Today’s subway is more complicated because of mental health and homelessness issues. But those days were way more dangerous /

Not to mention the 70’s when the city almost went bankrupt and the Prez at the time told us to “drop dead.”
