I used to substitute teach for CPS and sometimes I would work at Latino schools. The kids were always so sweet and well-behaved. I was at a high school once and one of the other teachers told me that they don’t do a whole lot during first period, since a lot of the students are coming directly from working in factories all night. 😭😭 My heart is just breaking for these communities of lovely, hard-working people.💔😞

Before DACA was implemented I remember having to work night shifts under the worst conditions at a plastics recycling company with my mom. We killed ourselves and got paid a misery. Then I had to go to school in the morning and keep my grades up. I was in all AP classes, but I never got to take the tests at the end of the year because I had no social. No college credits for me. This is literally so devastating. I never thought I’d experience this kind of fear again.
