My youngest kid told me they were trans aged 12. We immediately started picking a new name, new clothes, letting family know, letting school know, getting a new haircut etc, they’d already experienced puberty so accessing puberty blockers was not necessary. We spoke to the doctor and among other issues with MH and got put on a waiting list to go to the gender clinic. We navigated changing rooms and toilet use at school. School was ROUGH for them. They went to pride, they had boyfriends and girlfriends. This was the way for 5 years.
