I just contacted Apple Support about my MacBook and it seems their "protocol" is to hang up on callers when they don't have a solution to the problem. This may sound far-fetched and delusional, but when Steve Jobs was alive I would email him directly about problems with Apple products and most of the time they were surprisingly fixed. One time I emailed him with a an issue regarding using iTunes with dial-up. First he told me iTunes had that feature since 1.0, but eventually fixed it...
