Are you returning back to work? Pumping early is nice to 1. Build a freezer stash 2. Have a slight over supply to buffer the return to work dip 3. Have expressed milk to introduce a bottle before 5 weeks 4. Sort out all your pumping sizes/settings/pump early on If you're not concerned with building a freezer stash or returning to work issues pumping can still help with engorgement discomfort

Yeah you’re gonna make yourself engorged and have an oversupply. It’s not necessary. Why do you need to pump at all?

(Disclaimer: Not an IBCLC — just a fellow mom w massive oversupply at first) Girl, pump. I was told not to bc oversupply issues as well, but if you just pump whenever the engorgement is uncomfy, all it’ll actually do is just make it take a week or so longer to regulate. A worthy trade off for not having pain in my opinion. I recommend trying to only offer one breast at a time (none of that 15min/side stuff bc baby won’t get the hindmilk doing that w an oversupply). I also recommend the (1/3)

i’m not a professional and i hold no certifications. I have breastfed 5 kids until ages 20months-4 years . i pumped for relief whenever needed for the first month. then my supply regulated and only pumped for times i would be away from baby.
