Quit my job without notice today, I don't feel even the slightest bit bad. I was making 18 an hr welding. my rent is 1300. car insurance 131. phone/internet 30 (deal) my 40 hr takehome is 570 a week for 40 hrs OT isn't worth as the taxes I make an extra 70 dollars for 10 hrs. which isn't worth it. 3 guys who've been there for 25+ years make 17 an hour. my boss and his son own 400k+ houses on an island community connected by bridge. the oldest collects art. 1/?

I took my weeks worth of pto, went in, collected my checks, was confronted by my boss, I explained why I was leaving, that there was no room to grow and they don't give a fuck about any of us. 2/?

I started at 12/hr, forced my way to 18.50 because I made myself irreplaceable, could talk to clients, and brought in a lot of business. I also threatened the boss with organizing the rest of the (mostly Mexican H2A) crew. It was the most stressful and toxic time of my work life, after freelancing in film/tv. These Bosses are everywhere, and need to start being called out.

I got into the electrical trade when I moved states and was digging ditches for $12/hr in an apprenticeship. 9 小時內	holdingontowanderlust	Wow this sucked for you but I’m glad you got out! I left a thankless, going no where job 5 years ago and I am so grateful I left. Find somewhere that benefits YOU. Maybe look around for travel welding positions, and pick up your own private insurance and dental policies? I do something similar to this and I’d rather pay my own policies than be ever tied down to another corporation again.
