Just found out that schools in the U.S. teach that North and South America are two separate continents, while schools in Latin America and Europe teach that they are one American continent. No wonder everyone fights about continents so much.

They are separate continents, both according to geology and geography. Europe, Russia, and Asia are all part of the Eurasian plate and are, geologically, one continent. However, geographers (not geologists) separate Europe from Asia as two separate “continents”.
