Hi stylist and mom of a daughter with sensory disorder. Hair is a huge struggle for us. Framar and wet brushes are great if held vertically they detangle easier than horizontally. Step 1. Do you have hard water to super chlorinated water? If so you will want to do a treatment from Malibu C (available on Amazon) 2. Always detangle before washing.

So my daughter is also autistic and has some struggles with hair brushing as well. Someone recommended a wet brush and I would definitely get one for your tool box. My daughter got my hair type so she has lots of hair with some natural curl. How does your kiddo tolerate the bath? If she enjoys baths I would plan a long bath with maybe some new or extra activities and I would also plan on getting in the tub with it for ease of access. The next time I wash her hair with only conditioner and I let it sit for a while. Since she’s got some good tangles I’d get the conditioner in her hair then try and work either the wet brush or a very wide tooth comb through her hair while the conditioner is still in so it acts like a lubtricant.

in terms of the current nest of tangles, i’d recommend only brushing when fully saturated with water and conditioner (preferably in the shower). to maintain it, keep it in parts and do one section a day
