It’s not MY job to boycott anything because I’m not the one displeased. I’m just tryna eat. If the server isn’t pleased with how much he/she earns, they should do it or find another job. A tip is a reward of my own choosing, not an obligation

If you cannot afford to tip, then you cannot afford to eat out. It wasn't the server who decided her job is based upon tips.

The people who don’t tip don’t have an issue with the restaurant. They have an issue with a tip being mandatory instead of something optional based on the level of service provided. And as someone who does tip well, I can’t say their argument is entirely wrong.

In most parts of the world we pay for the meal to be cooked and arrive at our table. The restaurant charges for the cost of doing so and the fair pay of their staff should be included in that cost. Why do you assume the responsibility for supporting their underpaid staff?

A tip is a discretionary bonus to reward good performance. The first part is discretionary, the second part is good performance. If you hold customers hostage with poor performance, customers ought to have an option to decrease your pay, in theory. But it is in theory only because it is asymmetrical, they have an option to increase your pay but not decrease your pay because workers are protected. And then, back to practical, normal performance = no need to tip, doing what is expected.

This is so dumb, if we boycott your establishment now your job is gone, furthermore stop voting republican if you don’t want these dumb laws

I ain't fighting your fights, but tell me when you, servers, are boycotting that mafia system and I will join you. PS: when I was a server I noticed that elder servers actually liked the system, so at that time it was impossible to boycott it, hope now (20 years later) is possible
