Pedantic as it may be but, there’s no such thing as a “British accent”. People presumably mean an English accent, which is one of the accents found in Britain. British accents are also Scottish, Welsh and N. Irish and even then there’s a very broad range of accents found in each of those places (and England).

Some in Northern Ireland almost certainly even claim that it could be Northern Irish accent. I imagine the use of the term also clarifies that it about how English is spoken as opposed to how Welsh or Scottish is spoken. Scottish people are British up until such time as they become independent, and some Scottish people as with I imagine some Welsh identify as British as well as their national identity.

17 小時內	Stephen Porter steveporter644	It's that American habit of referring to the entirety of the UK as "England" that's annoying (& I'm from England: East Anglia to make it more pedantic) maybe it's a legacy of the original settlers from the 17th century when Wales was still fully annexed into England & the union with Scotland still being worked out.

I live in Yorkshire and you can drive 8 miles and the accent has changed four times! Pedantry. Don't you love it. Also if the person was wanting an accent from these isles, then British would be the correct ask for an accent from England, Scotland or Wales.
