I saw a thread the other day about a mom asking for advice on how to handle their kids crying when trying to sleep train. So many comments were about how traumatizing it is to let them cry it out and sleep training is awful and if they cry they need you yada yada yada. IMO I think people miss the point with sleep training, but that’s not what this is about. My question to those moms berating the others for letting them cry…what do you do if you’re driving alone with your baby 1/2

12 小時內	Rachel Kasperek rachacho	My oldest would cry every time we had to be in the car until about 5-6 months when we switched from infant to convertible car seats. It absolutely killed me to hear her crying but we do have to drive places. Obviously I’m not saying let your baby cry for an hour, but parents are also people that need to get things done, and also sometimes need a quick 5 min mental break.
20 小時內	Mahriah Dye mahriahdye	I would attempt to soothe the baby while driving: talking, music, etc. And when safe to do so, pull over to check if baby was soiled or hungry. I also legitimately tried to limit driving solo with my baby during about six months when he regularly did cry in the car. Sleep doesn’t need to be “trained.”

20 小時內	Anna Louise annaloujoh	Those saying that they can speak to their baby or soothe them and then keep driving etc….you know that’s exactly like the pickup, put down method of sleep training? Not all sleep training is CIO. The OP is right and it’s exactly like when you’re in the car and they are not happy. There’s so many ways to sleep train. It’s just helping your baby/toddler learn how to fall asleep without excessive help from a caregiver so when they wake during the night they just go back to sleep like adults do.
一天內	emma \| young marriage + pregnancy emmapaterka	I avoid driving alone until baby is bigger and stops crying often in the car seat. If I’m alone I pull over to nurse and soothe. My nervous system can’t handle my baby screaming and me doing nothing to try and help 🫠 I also take them to the chiropractor to help with car seat crying!
