Okay. Be gentle with me please. I’m a Boomer, and a 🏳️‍🌈 ally, but I know I have much to learn. Today, while ordering coffee, the barista was helping me rework a drink so it would be sugar-free, dairy-free, and caffeine free, (or no fun, as my husband would say). Anyway, when they suggested a way to make that happen, I said “You da man!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m sure that alone, aged me. Anyway, I followed with a genuine “thank you”. I’m not going to describe the person, I’ll just say I made an assumption. 1/3

Apologies are good if they are quick but I think more so if you’re having ongoing dialogue. Otherwise I feeel like it dates more attention and then just leaves it hanging there. 5 小時內	Fetty its_fetty_boy	I say yessirr as a gender nuteral way of being excited if that helps. Like saying it in casual talk with either gender if that helps. Some phrases are just naturally gender nuteral feeling but I understand some still may not see it that way and I will apologize if it does

What matters is that you recognize the mistake and correct it (bonus points for not forcing someone you accidentally misgendered to comfort you when it happens). I don't think anyone would mistake that for malicious and now you've recognized some language that needs updating! And that's ok

Dude, bro, “you da man”, things like that I don’t think most people under the age of 30 really associate as only male, especially in this context. Nice to be aware you may have made a mistake and misgendered someone, but unless the barista commented there’s a pretty high chance they just thought you were old and not transphobic 😂
