Housing is at a shortage in my small town. Also, local doctor and his wife buy the 3 bedroom house I wanted for about 200k (with an offer on it before it was even listed) and rent it as an Airbnb for 5k a month. It's not a housing shortage, it's a greed surplus.

It's real, I provided the name of the house on Airbnb, it's not clickbait. Jesus Christ people, it's a housing SHORTAGE, so inventory is low, rent is high, and part of the problem is people renting what needs to be community housing to out-of-towners. Sorry, but capitalism can really suck the life out of communities.
